MSV

The hottest copoly tennis string on the market today comes from Mauve Sport Versand, MSV, and is available exclusively in the USA through Guts and Glory Tennis.

MSV strings come in a variety of flavors. The traditional round shaped copolymer called MSV Co.-Focus comes in three diameters. 1.18mm, 1.23mm and 1.28mm. It is available in a variety of colors.

For those seeking something a bit spicier, the MSV Focus – Hex® is extruded in a hexagonal form and offers great bite for those seeking wicked nasty spin potential The Hex version comes in a micro 1.10mm as well as 1.18mm and 1.23mm gauges. All three gauges are available in white and black. The black is strikingly awesome! 1.18 and 1.23 are also available in red.

MSV strings are known for their comfort, playability, tension maintenance and value pricing. If you have used them please feel free to share your thoughts by posting a comment here.

I’d like to know if there is any shop in Hong Kong selling MSV Focus – HEX 1.18 mm by reel?

I tried the MSV 1.18 as a full string bed and I liked it but I wish it had a little more pop. If I use the MSV in the mains what string would you suggest would be the best as a cross string that would still maintain the good spin and control characteristics but give it a bit more power and feel.

We use it mostly as a full setup. Depending upon tension you could try dropping the tension. Alternately you could try any softer synthetic gut. Something akin to Forten Sweet would make a nice cross. For added pop you may go to a solid core with a multi wrap…something like a KLiP Scorcher.
