Earlier today we noted that a well-known tennis message board had a post concerning the new WeissCANNON Explosiv!, which Guts and Glory Tennis has introduced to the USA. The post read, “Any updates on the release date of these strings? I would much rather spend my money at <SNIP> than at some random internet site. Really want to try these out!!”
Random internet site? Phooey! Our site is the face of a company that has been at the forefront of introducing new string products to the USA for the past 5 years. Guts and Glory Tennis was first to introduce Signum Pro Poly Plasma, Signum Pro Megaforce, Topspin CyberFlash, all WeissCANNON poly-based strings, all MSV strings, Topspin CyberBlue and now the newest and perhaps best multi in the marketplace, WeissCANNON Explosiv!. We have altered the tennis landscape by introducing superior playing strings at prices much more reasonable than the more well-known brands. Better products at lower costs.
This is the site whose owner takes pride in responding to all customer questions. A site where the buying public has direct access to our knowledge and experience via our blog, discussion board and the telephone. A site where the owner spends countless hours talking with our customers about our string products and providing educated thoughts about how the products compare to others in the marketplace. The opinions and thoughts, freely and enthusiastically shared, are based on personal playtest experience as well as data collected from a local playtest team. The question must be asked…“Is this the same type of personal service and attention customers receive from the Big Boys?” Perhaps it is better. 🙂

Patronizing smaller family-owned businesses offers many advantages. For instance, how many times do the Big Boys toss in sample sets of string for playtesting at no additional charge? How often is the person taking the phone order able to answer questions on playability/performance based on personal experience? What about unfettered honesty? How many times do the Big Boys listen to customers and say, “we think you would be best served by a product we do not carry?” or “I think you would be better served by this lower cost (and lower profit) product?”
One final thought. Large e-tailers clearly meet the needs and desires of many customers by offering a huge inventory at low prices. We offer a smaller alternative with a focus on acquiring and disseminating knowledge of the products we carry. There is clearly room for both types of service in the marketplace. Ultimately the customer will decide where his/her needs are best served.
